The Thomas House Conservation, Restoration & Rejuvenation

A project by SNK

Posted on 18 Mar 2024

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, many of our alumni joined our walkthrough Thomas House, the new Cathedral School building, an event organized by Dr Parmar. It was a morning filled with nostalgia, excitement, and pride as we stepped into the corridors and halls of Thomas House, eager to witness the transformation of what was formerly known as Kodak House.

"The conservation process becomes instrumental in revival of heritage buildings as design negotiates a sympathetic relationship between the old and the new for a fine balance of continuity and change."

At the heart of this transformation lies the meticulous work of SNK (Somaya & Kalappa Consultants), an architectural firm led by Cathedral alum who have not only breathed life into the building but have also honoured its rich heritage. The project is a testament to the delicate balance between preserving our school's rich history, whilst embracing the future. Through careful conservation and innovative design, SNK has seamlessly integrated modern amenities while safeguarding the historical integrity of the Thomas House building.
